THE KREWE OF WARRIORS IS CELEBRATING 23 YEARS OF MARDI GRAS REVELRY!

The not-for profit Krewe of Warriors is happy to be celebrating our 23^nd year as a Pensacola Mardi Gras Krewe! In 1987, the Warriors started out small with only 12 members. Now, we have a membership cap of 125 and maintain a waiting list for new members. Our first parade was on Pensacola Beach where we threw beads from the bed of a pickup truck. We now have 3 floats and will participate in six parades: 3 Mardi Gras Parades, the Krewe of Lafitte Parade, Fiesta of Five Flags Parade and the Pensacola Christmas Parade.

Every year we select a different theme and decorate our float and make costumes accordingly. This year we are Stray Cat Warriors.

We also hold a Mardi Gras ball every year that is open to the public. This year our ball was be held at the Hadji Shrine Temple on Nine Mile Road. Dress is Mardi Gras Festive, formal or casual. Our ball is always the high point of the Pensacola Mardi Gras season and we present

our new court coronation; after which the court members entertain the crowd with a dance performance. Each year, the names of our court members are kept secret until they are introduced at the annual ball.

In addition to our Krewe Court, the Warriors also have a Kidz Court, so members’ children and grandchildren can participate. The Kidz Court dresses up in costume based on our theme each year. They also have their own float and during the Grand Mardi Gras parade they get to parade with us and throw beads. They have a blast!

The Warriors hold membership meetings and get together several times throughout the year for fun events. Some of our members have been in the Krewe for 15 years or more!

As much as the Warriors enjoy a good party, we also love to get involved in many different local charities. We support: Favor House, the American Red Cross, Blaze Sports Pensacola, the Northwest Florida Zoo, Belmont Arts Center.
